New Orleans, LA.

Salam and hello everyone,

It has been pretty chilly here down in IN. I wish I was in New Orleans!

So since hubs got 9 days of leave, we went for a road trip first to visit is family in Missouri, spent an afternoon in Memphis and a night in Jackson. We tried to push it to New Orleans that night but hubs was just too tired (he’s been helping my FIL) cut some woods) so we stayed a night in Jackson. It was great! Our room was huge and oh so comfy! πŸ™‚

We were driving down to New Orleans on a Tuesday and getting in was a breeze. It was before rush hour so we were lucky! We stayed close by to the French Quarter. In Wyndham Garden Hotel, to be exact. I like the hotel. Except they could do so much more. For example, valet parking. But other than that, everything was perfect. We even got upgraded to the King Suite room!

It was so awesome, it had a Jacuzzi in it. Score!

I had a fantastic time in New Orleans (duh!). Food was great. People were amazing. Vibes were refreshing! First day in New Orleans, we just walked around French Quarter. I had my first beignets at CafΓ© Du Mundo. I finally understood why it was so famous!

Our King Suite room in Wyndham Garden Hotel. Sweet!

Second day we headed to two of the most famous plantations in Louisiana- The Oak Alley Plantation and Laura Creole Plantation.

These plantations are close to each other (3 miles apart) and about an hour drive from downtown New Orleans. It wasn’t a bad drive at all. I enjoyed it. But between the two plantations, I enjoyed Oak Alley more. Probably why BeyoncΓ© chose this place for her album and Deja Vu music video. πŸ™‚

Entrance fees for Oak Alley – 10$ per person while Laura’s – 20$ per person. I am not too sure the fees for kids tho. You may Google or call. πŸ™‚

Okay, pictures time! I think I will probably share pictures in New Orleans only in this and will share the pictures from the plantations in the next entry!

An afternoon in Memphis!

Hey guys!

Hubs and I drove from Poplar Bluff, MO to Memphis, TN on Monday morning. The actual plan was to leave at 9 in the morning but since my eye was hurting, we had to go to the urgent care first.

We finally left at 11 am and all was good.

Hello Memphis!

IMG_5267

A cool building.

Since we arrived mid afternoon, it was time to eat so we head to Hard Rock CafΓ©. We had the mushroom burger and it was marvelous.

That’s Shakira’s actual bra from one of her concerts. Hard to believe ya? πŸ˜‰

After lunch, we went ahead and head our way to Elvis Presley Graceland. Now, to be brutally honest, before stepping to this place, I didn’t really know a lot of his songs and his history. All I know was he was king of rock and roll. :p

Everything changed after the tour at his Graceland. He was an amazing person, it made sense to me now why he was loved(he is missed by many even in this era!) by many at his time. Rest in peace, Elvis.

Tickets were about 76$ for both me and hubs. We had to wait about 1.5 hours before getting on the bus to go to his house. We killed time by going to his car museum and Las Vegas area. That man loved cars!

Oh btw, I wore my favorite shirt here and a security lady stopped me and said ”You need to take your shirt off before you leave this place. I love your shirt!”

Holy moly, I thought I offended someone with my shirt! I really thought I did! (I was wearing ‘God Save the Queen’ shirt haha).

So anyways, please enjoy some of the pictures I took from our visit to Elvis Presley’s Graceland!

Welcome to Graceland, readers!

Obviously I didn’t take a lot of photos here coz I was actually so moved and focus on my tour. Sorry, I failed. 😦

I hope if you ever go by Memphis, you can swing by and visit the Graceland. It was worth the wait(I really hate waiting). I was not a fan of his, but after the tour, I highly respect this guy and wish he could live longer. 😦

Oh, we didn’t buy any specific souvenir from Graceland coz we thought we’d be spending more in New Orleans. However, we took pictures at the photo booth. πŸ™‚ it was both our first times in the photobooth. yay!

Much love.

P/S: My laptop has been acting up and I am not happy! I told hubs I need a new computer but he said ‘No money, no talk!’. So please bear with me ok!

Balik kampong!

Hello and salam all,

Sorry I have been MIA. I have been busy with everything that needed to take care of before we leave for our vacation.

First of all, this is super late but I’d still like to wish Eid Mubarak to those who were celebrating it last week! I didn’t get the chance to fast coz we were traveling to my hubs hometown. 😦

IMG_5210

Happy Eid! I was dressed nicely for Eid and I liked it. Hope y’all had a great one. πŸ™‚

Well before we left, le kitty was already feeling sad. Cats are like dogs in some ways. They can sense your emotions and yes, they know when you are leaving! Poor kitty. He was not very happy that morning. 😦 I was (of course!) worried about him too and was emotional coz I was going to miss him tons!

IMG_5179

Look at his face. 😦

I look at his pictures whenever I am out of town and will always have his videos on my phone for me to look at too whenever we are parted. Oh I’d like to thank my friend, Danielle for taking such good care of le kitty every time we are out of town. I don’t know what we’d do without you, Danielle! You’re such an amazing friend.

So anyways, we left home at 10 am and got to Poplar Bluff at 6pm. It was actually a great time coz we didn’t stop so much. I cooked before we left so we don’t have to waste time looking for restaurants and also we saved money that way! πŸ˜€

Hubs got the chance to spend time with his dad, cutting woods. My PIL will need lots of woods this winter since TV kept saying this winter is going to be worse than last year’s. Sad. Let’s hope it’s not true but it wont hurt to get them ready if terrible winter hits! We want them warm and safe at home. πŸ™‚

We got to spend time with the kids as well (C, M and J). We celebrated hubs birthday in advance! C bought cupcakes for us while she was out. Thanks C! Then we went out for a movie. Just us and the kiddos. My PIL were too tired and decided not to go. πŸ™‚

Happy birthday, my love!

C and I went for a jog on Saturday morning and that girl beat my bums! I haven’t ran outside in a long long time and the steep roads hurt my knees. 😦 But I enjoyed our time outside. πŸ™‚

And of course, what is a trip going back to the hometown if we don’t go and visit Gma! Here she is, 94 years old and still kicking! She is truly an inspiration and she is definitely sweet. I love her!

IMG_5228

Me and Gma S!

On Sunday, my PIL took us to their property. I should have asked how far the journey would take but I didn’t. I only knew it was going to be long when my FIL looked back at me and said “You are not car sick, are you?”

LOL.

But the journey was worth it. Green green green everywhere. Here are some pictures from that trip!

Hubs said this weird looking thing is good for arthritis. I have no arthritis but I still carry it back home with me LOL. It’s not a fruit but it contains nuts in it. Anggap memori aja. πŸ™‚

Well, that’s all for our trip in MO. I had anΒ allergy when I was there, hence not a lot of pictures.Β My right eye felt so sore each time I blinked and it was getting worse so hubsΒ took me to the Urgent Care on Monday. Thank God it was just allergy reaction. And thanks hubs for taking me there for the doctor to look at me. πŸ™‚ I am all good now and I cant wait to share our travels with y’all! We were in Memphis, TN and New Orleans, LA!

Stay tuned for our travel posts okay!

Much love.
